Today I realized how blessed I am to have a sister. I knew it before, but I didn’t realize how unique a situation it really is. Each of my parents are one of 5 children in their families. Out of all our cousins, I’m the only one who grew up with a sister. Wow. I was reminded to treasure my sister as I looked forward to taking portraits of some of the newest sisters I know, these lovely twin girls, who also have an older sister to look up to!

Sisters are for holding hands. For snuggling. For livening up family reunions.

Sisters are for encouraging… and for smacking you in the head when you really need it.

Sisters are for laughing at your jokes, and telling you when you’re not really funny.

What a blessing it is to have a sister, something never to be taken for granted. Here’s to best friends you don’t choose!
