Sewing Infinity Scarves

Aren’t these pretty?

I’ve become a lover of scarves. It took me quite a while to get there. I couldn’t figure out how to wear them just right, or what to wear them with. Then there was the problem of finding scarves that I really liked…for a reasonable price. I thought I would have to miss out on this trend, until I took a trip with a dear friend to Fabricland. There I found beautiful prints and great textures for lovely prices! It was a big sale day too. (whoo hoo!!) I picked up a few prints and took them home. I knew it couldn’t be that hard to sew scarves and I was right. Actually before I got around to dragging out my sewing machine, I just tied the scarf in around my neck and (hopefully) no one noticed. I LOVE wearing these scarves because I have so many basic and solid shirts in my wardrobe. I’ve found these make it so easy to dress up a plain shirt. Also, I quite enjoy how warm they can keep me, especially in the winter.

I loved making these scarves so much, I decided it would be the right craft to bring to our young ladies retreat (with the Reformed Presbyterian churches in the area). I scooped up more fabric, and taught the girls a couple of ways of stitching the scarves. There was a more intricate rolled hem that some of them tried, but for the most part a simple running stitch worked well. Because the fabric drapes so nicely, it is very forgiving and hides a multitude of mistakes. Perfect for beginners! Have a look!
