My Love for Weddings
As I write this, I’m still revelling in the warm fuzzies of spontaneous dancing with my husband in the living room. We’ve been married almost 5 years and we “learned” to dance on our first date, but his eyes are just as captivating and his embrace only stronger and more protective. The song we danced to was Jon Bryant’s “David Livingstone’s Heart”. It’s beautiful, but we never would have heard of the artist or song if it weren’t for a wedding we shot (I photographed, but he kept me sane which is at least 50% of it).
My head spins with where God has brought us in 5 years. We shoot weddings together now?? Amazing.
Those (almost) 5 years of marriage have only made my love for weddings more intense. On the wedding day, of course I notice the stunning lace on her dress, the tears her Dad is trying to hide, the giddy smile as the groom watches his bride approach…but my excitement is for more than bouquets. The couple knows life is about to change, but they don’t know it all yet. They don’t know the incredible secret moments of marriage. That the first dance at their wedding reception may be romantic and memorable, but the dance in the living room in their unfinished house with a baby fussing 10 feet away and dishes still in the sink can be even more romantic.
Ahhhhh see why I love weddings? Because they are the beginning of all this! I’m so thrilled to see a man and woman commit to a lifetime together, no matter what. On that note, congratulations to the newlyweds of 2015 (favourite 2015 wedding & engagement images below!) and to those of 2016 who I can’t wait to meet and celebrate with!
