Being the Intern

Today was my very last day of a 6 week internship at Greenmelon Inc. It’s so sad to be finished! I had a marvellous time there. Greenmelon does primarily packaging design…go see Greenmelon’s Website! They do lovely work. I really enjoyed my time learning from Rob and Ali. Every day was something new… exciting design and fun shenanigans. I was able to work on wide variety of projects which ranged from make up packaging, wine tasting postcards, and logos to building a website for a spa via Squarespace. I worked on Greenmelon’s website too and learned alot as I went. I was able to attend some client meetings with Rob which were a fantastic experience. The environment was so lovely, too. We worked out of Rob’s home which was so comfortable. The kettle was on so we could get tea refills all day long, there were usually some baked goods on the counter, we had a dance party (or watched Rob have one) and really enjoyed ourselves. That’s my kind of place!

Rob was always doing special things for us (like getting free samples from clients!) and on my last day, he made it extra special. First he surprised Ali and I with manicures and pedicures, then he took us out for a yummy lunch – sushi! Aside from all the insight and advice he gave me, he even brought a gift for me which included some extremely important items for helping my career along…namely a monkey-shaped tea infuser. Among other things, he included a special book which is some of his favorite advice in a nutshell. The book, pictured here, is called Not a Box. The book is very simple, probably intended for children. However, we all know it’s the grown ups who really need to hear this message! The character shows us all the exciting ways he can use his box, stretching his creativity as far as it can go. Thanks for helping me stretch mine, Rob!

And that’s all I gotta say about that.

  1. Hi Laura,

I just want to tell you that I miss welcoming you with my lovely bark….I wonder why you didn’t mentioned me in your blog! You mentioned Rob’s chicken dance but nothing about the marvellous employee # 4…!

    Java,

    • Java!! I miss you too :) It was so nice to see your cheery face every morning. Your new haircut is very becoming. I’ll come visit you soon, hopefully!
